Our Story

I’m Jenn and I’ve developed a passion for plants and flowers since Covid began. During Covid quarantine I started collecting more and more houseplants and then discovered the world of rare and uncommon houseplants. I learned about their unique needs and how I could help them thrive in typical home conditions. I built my own greenhouse cabinet for my extra special plants and soon started importing baby rare plants to grow, propagate, and sell.

Since I was so into my indoor plants, I never paid much attention to outdoor plants. We only had a small flower bed in front of our house and no backyard, but one summer day I noticed our front flower bed that we had left as it was since we bought our home was totally overgrown with weeds and there was no cohesive design or theme. My husband and I ripped out all of the overgrown and dead plants and I started researching flowers and plants that would work better. I discovered so many resources during this time (my favorites are Garden Answer, North Lawn Flower Farm, and You Can Do It Gardening) and soon found the world of cut flowers.

Since our property only included a small flower bed, I planned to fit as many flowers as I could there and use some pots on the back deck. Our lighting wasn’t ideal since there wasn’t a true full sun location which cut flowers thrive in, but I was determined to make it work. The more I researched the more I became interested in cut flower farming and saw it as something I could do, if I had the right space. I was talking to my best friend about this one night and she generously offered me space in her full sun backyard. This felt like an answer for a way to get started, and such a relief that it could be real. Once I knew I had a real option I totally dove into the world of cut flower growing on every platform I could learn from. Lisa Mason Ziegler, b.a.r.e. Flower Farm, and Blossom and Branch were great resources for me. I planned my beds, started my seeds, and waited anxiously for my first season growing. The skills I gained with my rare houseplants set me up for success with cut flower growing since I understood the underlying needs for plants to thrive, and I already had some equipment like grow lights and indoor greenhouses.

We started looking for property in the spring to start our own farm on, and we hit the jackpot finding an old farmhouse on two acres that we could make our own. Everything worked out with perfect timing and I was able to get our first garden at the new house ready in the fall for spring planting. Doing this is a dream come true and I’m so grateful to be sharing this with you.

Come visit the farmstand at 3645 N Susquehanna Trail on weekends during the growing season (late April through October) to experience the magical blooms for yourself.
